Nw Michigan (Traverse City Area)

Featured Replies

I will be heading up for a week in mid July.  Any smaller lakes/rivers that I should try for bass?  I will only have a canoe so big lake might be a bit much.  I am staying south of TC in Frankfort but driving is not a problem.  thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what size lake you feel comfortable on, but there are plenty of lakes north of Interlochen.  Also some fishable lakes south on M-22 all the way to my favorite lake in Onekama.

I have fished Duck, Green, and Long before but that was in a bass boat.  Those are probably bigger than I can effectively fish in a canoe.  I have been on Portage before but it has been 10 years at least, If I recall it looked like it should have a good bass population but I don't remember us doing all that well.

Thanks for the map link! I have been using googlemaps to look at smaller lakes but sometimes it is hard to see if there is an access site.
