Painting Spinnerbaits Heads

Featured Replies

What is the easiest way to paint spinnerbait heads.  I have been using a paint brush to tap the powder paint onto the head.  Using the same method to add multiple colors to it.  Is there an easier way, I seem to be getting too much paint onto them.

I have been using that method for about 5 years with very good success. The only other choice would be paint by hand with Testor's paint, or air brush.

you couldn't paint them with acrylics and a brush and then coat with epoxy?

Some of them come out pretty good, and others come out pretty bad looking.  I think I need a better brush for applying, what brush do you use Cadman.

I use a #4 for heavier applications and a #2 for lighter powder applications. The brushes I got are some cheap ones from China I got at Menards. About a $1 for six. Remember less powder paint is better. You can always add more, but once its on you can't take it off unless you strip it off.

Any small brush should be fine. I would recommend starting with a small amount of paint, you can always add more. I would also experiment with how far your holding the brush from the lead when you are tapping it.  And try to get the head as hot as possible without burning the paint.
