Cool thanks for your list. :)

Yeah if I had more experience with Pumkins', Greens, Redear and the like, I'd probably put them up close to Bluegill.

I just haven't caught enough of them...yet :)  I've been doing some fun but serious panfishing lately...new rods and baits, etc.

By the way, those Gulp Maggots in a jar are amazing for Bluegill out here I discovered.  A dozen caught on them early this morning.

I am with ya there!! A 2 pounds white bass is a blast!

That`s a lot of dinner!

I like using Gulp 1 inch Minnows for Crappie's.

On a bass fishing forum it's interesting to see people worried about how hard a fish pulls. If I wanted to catch a hard fighting fish, bass would be near the bottom of the list.

I like crappies because they are the only ones that I would consider to be tough to figure out. You have to pattern them just like bass, see where they are holding, what bait they want, and how they want it presented. Not bad on the dinner table either!

Yeah Crappie can be difficult for sure.  Most of the ones I've caught were while first blind casting from the bank.  And then after locating them I would switch lures and see how many I could tempt before they moved on or shut down.  Inline spinners were deadly for locating Crappie when fishing "blind", and my biggest was on a spinnerbait I switched to after finding them.  Good times :)

Got back frome the lake today and ended up catching around 26 Bluegill,Redear,Lmb's,&smbs and had a lot of fun. Cuaght some really nice sized bluegill! I'll upload pics soon.

The biggest one was caught on a 3.5" bass tube,I was very surprised!

Wow Hank you had an awesome day at the lake :)  Thanks for sharing those pics.

I definitely consider the 1 pounders to be trophy bluegill.

Anyone who's had Cichlids in an aquarium will vouch for the fact that they are way stronger, smarter and more aggressive than most fish.  I've never had the pleasure to catch wild ones, but I can imagine that if schools of those fish are present you couldn't possibly reel them in fast enough... that would be an awesome feeding frenzy.  Are there schools of them in FL or are they just the occasional escaped pet ?

Crappies have no business in a hardest fighting fish discussion IMO.  The ones I catch around here anyway, as soon as they are hooked they go limp and usually water ski to the boat....  good to eat but not much fun to catch beyond finding and harvesting like potatoes...

Caught this 11 1/2in bluegill just a couple of days ago. That pond has monster bluegill in it and for me they are easily the best panfish. They pull hard and lots of time i was expecting a decent bass when i pull up these guys. Almost thought i had a PB when i hooked into this guy lol.

Congrats on that bull of a Bluegill.

What type of lure, is that a marabou/hair jig?  I can't quite tell from the pic.
