Anyone In Iowa Having Any Luck?

Featured Replies

Been skunked the last 2 times out. Tried everything I had. T rigs, shaky heads, spinner and buzz baits, jigs, spooks and frogs and nothing. Don't know if it's been the constant rain or what. I talked to DNR at my go to lake and he said it was up 8 feet which was obvious but still. Can't pay for a bite right now.

What area of the state you in? Caught 26 at Pony Creek near Glenwood 2 weeks ago but no weight to brag about.

I'm in the quad cities area. Mostly fishing the lakes of west lake out in davenport near buffalo and a newer lake called lost grove but that lake is so high it's impossible to bank fish right now. We've just got thunderstorms daily the last week or so which has sucked.

I'm retired and live in south central Iowa near Creston, I fish about 5 afternoons a week with the Boss Lady and she catches as many as I do. We have been doing pretty well lately using 5 inch Yum Dingers and jigs, We have been fishing a lot of the small county lakes from 10 to 40 acres. Here are couple of pics.

@PAPADUDE You have any tips for 3mile and 12mile? I darn near got skunked a couple weeks ago and I was on the lake for 9 hours.

i3ig Nasty; Although I only live a few miles from 3 and 12 mile I rarely fish them. They have so many tournaments on them It makes them both tough to fish. I fish a lot of the smaller 10 to 40 acre lakes and do quite well on them. Get a Sportsman Iowa Fishing Map guide at Walmart and check out the lakes in your area. People are missing out on some great bass fishing by not using these smaller lakes. Here are tonights results for us. What part of the state are you from?
