I'm looking to get a new setup and I was originally looking at the dobyns savvy 766 and pairing that with the lews super duty reel. But I just came across the gloomis e6x series and wondered if it would be better than the dobyns. For me I want the lightest gear without losing too much power for this price range. So I wasn't sure if anyone on here had fished either of these rods.

Now when it comes to a reel I also discovered the 13 *** and C reels from one of my friends. I love it, it is so lightweight and smooth and I'm going to get one for my jigging and plastics rod. But my main concern is the durability of the reel. I'm going to be using heavy braid (60lb) and I don't know if the 13 reels can handle it. I know the super duty can because that's what's it's made for but the super duty reels are on the heavier side at 8 oz. The reason I'm so sceptical is because I had braid destroy my drag on my Abu Garcia revo SX and I don't want the same to happen if I get the 13 reel.

Would love any opinions and suggestions. Thanks :)

The reel that has accomplished all those techniques for me has been the Curado I HG, with a hawgtech handle. The reel is affordable and its a work horse.

Don't have any experience with the E6X or Savvy but I use a Fitzgerald Rod and it's been amazing so far I use this rod 80% of the time. One thing I will say is it's not the lightest rod I've ever held but it's not too bad now I think I've just gotten used to it (it was really only the first time out I thought it was heavy ever since I haven't noticed it too much) and the durability so far as been excellent as I abuse my rods a good amount and it's more than held up.

X2 on the Curado I HG

I really like my e6x I don't have the heavy model but I plan on adding a mh this month. They are light weight and well built.

Rod and Reel......duh.... I just mentioned my reel. Lol... As far as the rod that I use for all three techniques mentioned  would be the Dobyns Champion 736. For H rod its light, and has one heck of a backbone to boot. Paired with the Curado I, balances perfectly well. Anything I stick with that rod is going to lose. Gators included. ;)

I keep reading on here about the Hawgtech handle.

Don't own one, never have.

I can see where it would be advantageous for heavy duty use, but do you use one on your lighter setups also?

I also use the 94mm handle for my lighter techniques. For my H techniques I use the 102mm. Talk with Mike and Rob over at Hawgtech they will give you the low down.
