Nc Piedmont

Recommended Posts

Well it has certainly been hot here in the Piedmont of North Carolina and with that hot weather the bass have moved into their awesome summer patterns. I live for the summer time weather and the bass fishing seems to be about as good as it can be. Only thing I'm missing is a Double Digit bass, but I can't be greedy. I have been catching numerous bass here anywhere from 9 lbs and down with more large fish than dinks. Bad pictures, but just had my phone set on my hat with a self timer. I'm not sure how to upload good photos via iPhone. Maybe I can fix them tomorrow when I'm not at work.

All my big fish have either come on a jig and craw or zoom soft plastics. Fishing very, very slow and patient

Well Absolutely, always have been, always will be.  On a side note, I actually work for Chapel Hill FD.  Even our trucks are Carolina Blue.  Go HEELS!

Good job Benny

For those that are not familiar with what we have been dealing with here in NC.....hot, very hot and dry. Stream flows and lake levels are down. Nighttime fishing is the norm for some, but for those of us who are willing to brave the heat, the big one's will bite. Deep brush piles are working for me right now along with the Texas rigged Zoom plastics.

I'll be out there at first light tomorrow!

I want to give you guys another update on the drought situation here in the western piedmont, just in case you're thinking about heading this way.

Currently, most areas are in a Moderate drought, bordering on Severe drought conditions. Annual rain fall amounts are 6.5 - 7" below normal. Lake Wylie has closed boat ramps in Allison Creek and several at the Buster Boyd Bridge Acces. Most reservoirs are well below normal levels, underwater boating hazards are a major concern across the region.
