This is a Quantum rod that I split the grip, removed fore grip and foiled with a pearl foil straight over the graphite. This was a very cool and fairly easy project. After a few more of these I guess I'll try my hand at making some rods.

    I think new construction is easier than repair/mods. You get a clean slate and are only limited by your imagination.
