Getting Your Name on Baits

Featured Replies

how do you guys get your name on the bottom of the bait?

i used to write it on there with a pen but that gets really tricky, and my new clearcoat causes pen ink to run.

i'm looking for a new way.

do you guys use some kind of label? hmmm i wonder if a pencil would work?

I've always used an ink pen, sorry no help.

it doesn't help that i have 12 characters to write either... "D. Saavedra '09"  :-?   ;D

.....stupid spanish last names....

lol.. Been there, done that! I use an ultrafine sharpie.. Just hit it with createx clear before you clearcoat and that problem will go away. The only thing that hasn't effected my signature is spraying DN. Epoxy, dipping DN almost always smear's the sig. if not cleared.

I'm assuming this is the same person who asked this over on TU but I'll answer again anyway.haha  I use a calligraphy pen with createx black.  It works great.  I used to use a sharpie also but had the smearing problem.  Anyway, this works great.

lol yeah that was me. i don't have any createx clear that i can clear over the sig with......

im sure i will figure something out.

If your clearing with D2t any clear will be alright. Krylon, auto, etc. If your using some kind of moisture cure im sure it will react with those..

yeah i'm using the waterborne polyurethane and it makes any water or solvent based ink run like you wouldn't believe.

thinned acrylic paint + caligraphy pen = win :)

A sticker works too. You can print it on your home inkjet printer, cut it out, stick it on and cover with topcoat.

I use pigma micron pens. The "ink" is basically just India ink in a pen form. You can spray krylon clear from a rattle can and it doesn't run, but I am not sure about a water based poly.

The tips on the pen are very tiny, so making small letters isn't too hard to do. I normally put 7 letters and 2 numbers on the tail section. 4, 3, and 2.

Like so:

hmm the acrylic and caligraphy pens not working out as well as it did that first time. the paint doesn't want to flow from the pen, and the pen is digging into the lure.

That was always my problem with cali. pen's and microns. Tip's are just too fine and love's to dig in.

hmm turns out Sharpie is compatible with my clearcoat. i figured since it smears pen ink it would smear sharpie but this isn't the case. i guess now i just have to get one of those ultrafine sharpie markers.

Check with an art supply store about what inks would work best.

They should know.

You could always shorten your signature to something like "Big Dave 09".  :)

The Big Dave Bait Company.  Sounds good to me.  ;D   ;D   ;D
