is this a good starter airbrush? it seems like a quality brush and its priced right for me. i'm thinking of buying one but just wanted to see if anybody has any experience with it and reccomends it. thanks.

i'm starting to like the HP BS more than the HP BR. it seems to always be reccomended over the BR.

It's a quality brush and will serve you well for a long time.   Order an extra tip and needle to have on hand.   Those parts are not always easy to find local.

I recommend going through TCP Global.  They have awesome customer service.  You really don't want to go cheap on your brush or compressor....you spend a good amount of time on your baits, and they deserve a quality paint job.  You can obtain this quality paint job with an Iwata HP-CS and a TC-20 compressor.  This will only set you back $250.  This is brand new, and obviously you can shop ebay for a better deal on a brush, but this is a pretty good deal.  You won't find a compressor that performs better for the price....this one is fairly powerful at 1/5hp and can maintain 40psi or more.  It also comes set up with a moisture tap and auto pressure regulator.  They even give you a free braided hose.

You can buy these together as a kit for $20 more, but for that $20 you get some Createx paint and supplies.  Well worth the $20.  

The Eclipse HP-BS is what I use, and would buy another one if mine was stolen...I think that from Dixie Art Supply it was about $20 or so more than the Revolution, which I hear is also a nice gun.  Definitely go with gravity feed over siphon!  I'm also very happy with a Harbor Freight airbrush compressor, Model #93657, 56 max pressure, 0-40 working.  It is auto shut-off, and has an easy adjusting regulator & water trap.  It was $80, not on sale, and it out-powers some Name Brand units.  I swear I've seen much more expensive units online under different names that use this identical compressor unit.

I would have to look into that im not 100% sure I think it was in the same line. So as long as it was all like eclipse or custom or revolution but Ill make sure first.

I'll second the TCP Global products.. I own 6 of their guns air brush and HVLP, I also like Harbor freights air brushes .. most of all if your starting out making baits or repaints.. you can move up to the higher end brushes once you've mastered the techniques

I recently picked up one of these BR's and although I doubt I'm going to start making my own baits (I have other uses for it) anytime soon, where is the best place to go to learn the fundamentals of air brushing?  Googling how to airbrush brings up millions of links/videos/articles/etc...

The Revolution BR is one of my favorite AB's.  IMO, the main thing to focus on is the size of the tip.  It controls the size of the spray cone and how subtle you can get fading one color into another.  Offsetting this, the smaller the tip, the more you have to worry about paint clogs and whether a thicker pearl or paint with metallic flake will spray through the AB.  Working with unthinned acrylic AB paints, a tip of .3 mm has been the sweet spot for me and the BR is that tip size.  I can't speak to brands I haven't tried and can only say that I have been completely satisfied with every Iwata airbrush I've used.  They are a "cut above" in quality.

well this is good to hear i ordered the revolution BR tuesday. it shoiuld be in next tuesday.
