Does anyone have a spreadsheet of their current tackle? I am currently making one and wanted to know what headings other people use. I added a Cabela's column because it is my closest large tackle store, and I have a ton of points to spend there for "free" tackle. 

 

I am looking for tips on my format and headings, not my tackle choices.

I have some for the rods\reels\combos though

I have consisted doing this for insurance reasons, but found taking close up pictures of each box much easier. I might not be able to name 100% of the baits, I sure could name most. I do this for my rods and reels as well.

My guns are the same way. I have pictures, models, and serial numbers all saved on my pc, and in my safe.

I don't have enough time to do all that.

What happens if your wife finds the spreadsheet?

Way too much work and way to much of a time waster. Pictures are your friend.

First thing I would do is get rid of the brand and product type in one column.  Brand and product would be separate because then you can sort it more easily.  I would also make all the generic choices in cell drop downs that you can reference on another page if you wanted to, so you aren't typing or cutting and pasting all the data each time.  I am not sure why you would need the hook size/style for each bait either as it doesn't indicate how many you have, they should be their own row so you can tell your actual inventory or what you want.  

 

Once you set up the spreadsheet it really wouldn't take long to enter in or change the data points either.

I did one over the long cold winter for insurance purposes. It helps to check here and there and keeps me from sometimes buying things. Do I need another popper when I already have 9? Lol.

I agree with flyfisher.  Separate the brand into a separate column.  By sorting, you can see what brands you favor or you can try other brands for a similar use.

I do this for my rods and reels, but mainly only so if something ever goes missing, I have it documented. And for good measure (and hiding), it's only saved on my work computer. 

 

 

But for tackle, I could never do this. I probably own 4-500 lures just in DT's and Rat-L-Traps. God knows what I have if I counted all my lures and plastics. 

I have a spreadsheet with my rods and reels along with what kind of line I have spooled on the reels.  Doing it with all tackle would be a monumental headache and I'd be spending too much time maintaining an accurate list.

I've done this. Worth it as a winter project, easy to edit when you make additions/subtractions..
