Nrx 803S

Featured Replies

Does anyone use an NRX 803s. I'm looking to dip my toes in the g loomis pool and want a good all around spinner. As of right now I have a 6'8 mxf avid and a 6'6 mf avid, I'm looking for a rod closer to the mf. I will be throwing everything from weightless trick worms to half oz cast masters. Also how fast is the loomis xf.

I have not used the NRX version of the 803s but I can tell you that the GLX 803s is far from being a good all around spinning rod. Its a 3 power rod with a lure rating of only up to 5/16oz. The NRX 803s has the same lure rating which is why I am not buying it. Why they didn't make it like the 803c (one of my favorite rods) blows my mind.

I would be surprised if it handled your 1/2oz baits well. should be nice with the weightless trickworms though.

The NRX 852s is an awesome all around bottom contact finesse rod. Great for shakey head, dropshot, small jigs and t-rig, senkos. It also does well with light spinnerbaits too.

the NRX 842s will probably be closer to the action of the fast avid but I do not have experience with it.

What you want is the NRX 843s but unfortunately they don't make one!

Keep in mind that St. Croix's power ratings are different than Loomis. A St. Croix medium is more like a Loomis medium heavy than a medium.
