Its a flop! It has absolutely NO action when reeled straight in. :)

Back to the drawing board...

Ben, all the baitmakers that I know have a bucket full of those baits but they are the ones you learn the most from. Lesson learned, now get on to the next, looking forward to seeing the next bait.

Put a jitterbug lip on that mama and you got yourself a great topwater.

Or add a lip that faces almost straight down.. maybe make it square bill, and you may end up with a great wake bait.?

Thanks idlov. It's not a complete write-off, as I can still use it as a jerkbait.

Both of those ideas should work, except that I have no way of controlling which side the lure lands on. I've got some ideas cooking though... :)

Ben

take off the two hooks on the sides. If it swims then you will know that the problem is the hook placement.

A bill is a good way to salvage a non swimming bait

Thanks, but the only way that would work is if I put a bill on each side and to do that on this lure would be to much of a hassle. By no means am I giving up on the "sidewinder" concept though. I've got another prototype that's almost ready for testing. I'll post results when it's done.

Ben

In order to get the bait to land the way you want it... Is to add belly weights...  It would then be able to roll to the correct position.  :)
