target coatings sc9000

Dave have you used that on plastic cranks? If so do you dip or brush on? How has it held up?

yeah i dip it. 3 coats. has held up fine for me but i haven't tested it much at all.

It looks like it goes on nice! I am assuming it dries very hard!?! I need something else to try! I am thinking of trying devcon as I found a local store that carrys the 30 min stuff in syringe and I can get a 6 pack of them for 18$! Where did you order your target coatings from?

no it does not dry hard. it stays somewhat flexible. i was pretty disappointed when i found this out. i've heard people say that it dries to about the same hardness of etex (i've never used etex so i couldn't say). when this stuff is fully cured you can put a small dent in it with your thumbnail, but the dent kinda "raises" itself out.

i ordered it from www.targetcoatings.com

what are you using now? devcon makes a great topcoat if you prepare it right. i was tired of the application process and wanted to try out dipping. 6 packs for $18 is a pretty good deal.

Right now I am using cs coatings 1 part water based epoxy. Its not bad, but I need like 2-4 coats and let it hand for a couple days so it gets pretty hard! It will not stand up to a 36'' pike though I found that out lol!

target coatings sc9000 is about the same way.

Btw, those syringes I beleive are 4oz each! and they mix evenly and has a cap to seal it! I may try this out and just buy one to try if I like it I will get more! I would also be willing to buy them for people as long they cover the shiping lol!

The cs stuff is easy to work with, only thing is, 9.99 per 4 oz or 12.99 per 4 oz with uv stuff in it! if the target stuff is the same, isnt  gallon like 25$? I could get a lot more for my money that way!

no target coatings is not the same stuff. your stuff is a waterbased epoxy, target coatings is a waterborne polyurethane.

when i said it was the same way i meant target coatings takes over 4 days to reach full hardness, takes 3 coats for a good finish, and wouldn't stand up to toothy fish.

13 bucks for 4oz of UV protected is really expensive dude.

a quart (32oz) of target coatings is 23 bucks.

Thank you for all the info. And again great job.
