Its still pretty warm here in the Southeast. high 80's but the water has dropped off at my goto pond a full 10 degrees. Its a 3 acre pond. 50 years old and 12 foot deep at the deepest. I use a deeper from the boat. and it shows that most are at the deepest part but they are still tons of fish up near the banks. Especially under one laydown that is most productive. I have not seen any bait fish moving and the water is most of the time murky stained so I cant see anything besides the bluegill and crappie that break the surface from time to time. The deeper sonar is good because I can cast it up deep into a laydown to get the lowdown lol.

 

Ive have worn this pond out since May. Ive gotten a 3,4,5,6,7 and an 8 on 8/13 (all released) and I lost count of the 1's and 2's but something has changed. The last 3 trips have only yielded ONE fish and it was a pound and a half. Now, I don't believe whole heartedly about the moon phases but I just happened to be there on the last new moon even at the best hours and still nothing. Most of my luck has been on a black T rigged Zoom Worm or the Pumpkin/Chartruese lizard. I have caught one big one on a black and blue Jig.

 

Thoughts? Should I down size? Slow my presentation? Change baits?

Fishing is getting ready to get tough before long buddy. It's getting to be that time of year where the water is unstable. Ponds will get hit first with it. Don't worry, it'll pick back up.

any possibility that someone else is fishing this small pond really hard as well?

No its not accessible from the banks. Im the only one with permission. Its deep down on a farm.

Welcome to bass fishing.... an area can be hot for while and then cold. The good news is, you are fishing a 3 acre pond. That's pretty small. You can use your electronics and see if they are stacking up somewhere. They are still there if you are the only one allowed to fish that pond.

I'd have to agree with most everyone else when they say welcome to bass fishing.  Sometimes the "goto" spot becomes the "WHAT THE F#@% HAPPENED" spot. It's just part of fishing. You may need to change your tactics and approach.  Need to fnd that new presentation and bait that excites them and gets them fired back up.  Don't worry you aren't the only one that has experienced that problem on here.
