Wading The Juniata River?

Featured Replies

I'm in Maryland and have never been to the Juniata River ... is the river low enough in most places for wading?  Some areas better than others?  Thinking about heading up there this weekend to fish for smallmouth.

It is tremendously low right now. Anywhere from the Susquehanna up should be doable. Why not wade the Susky. Check the campground out in Duncannon. Brian.

Lots of good spots out of the camp ground....not too sure about season but flip a few rocks over and look for helgermites. They are black and have a nasty set of pinchers. Hook them behind the neck collar and drift it with the current on a split shot rig. Oh and HOLD ON! They whack em hard. For moving baits go with shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, and tubes. Its a good time.
