Is This A Good Rod For These Techniques?

Featured Replies

Okay I am looking at a Powell Max 765SBR MH-F (not the new 3D, the old one) and I was wondering how it would do on the following techniques:

Hollow body frogs and toads, flipping, pitching, punching, and paddletails up to 5" with 3/8 oz weighted swimbait hooks

dude that rod might be overkill. Not sure what they mean by med-heavy sounds more like an xxhvy. Getting the tip to load with a frog might be a trick, but you could punch through 3 ft of slop with that thing.

I know people are probably tired of hearing me say it, but I do all that and more with my tatula flip rod like it was built for all of it. Look around, you can find it for less than that Powell and spend what you saved on tungsten punch weights.
