Hey Islandbass...

Wow, I hope that is meant to catch the bass, not eat them!  :D  I don't personally like it, but everyone has their own taste...

Ben,

Holy smokes, that is awesome! I really like the eveness of the teeth and the eyes are killer. Well done!

Thanks for sharing. The photo from the guy from Sweden is pretty sweet too. Super shark teeth! The depth of the texture of the paint job is phenomenal too.

Wicky,

You are right in that a set of shark teeth can look mean to us. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to scare fish:

Yep, that is one heck of an ugly looking crankbait, and the shark teeth don't help it either. ;D I can't paint worth a darn. ;)

However, this fish hammered the living daylights out of it:

That is a kiss Jimmy Houston would be proud of (click on pic to see the full kiss).

Smallies seem to like it too:

One can only conclude that beauty is indeed, in the eye of the beholder. :D

Thanks IB. The teeth aren't nearly as even in person. :;)  This one is just a practice bait, I'm not sure I'm actually going to finish it.  It doesn't float and is a real pain to cast or reel in. Also it was one of the first baits I made using twisted wire hook hangers and I made them out of rebar wire instead of galvanized or stainless wire. The rebar wire is plenty strong but it will rust very easily so extra care is needed to ensure that they don't.

I am going to do some more "shark-mouthed" baits though. Painting the teeth is fun, if time consuming. I think I may do one in camo with air force roundels on it... :D

Right on, FW. I basically use a dark soft pencil (like HB) and draw everything out. Then I take a thin brush and "dab" in the colors for the teeth and mouth.

That one is cool!  Did you catch anything on it?

I didn't think to outline the mouth and teeth with a pencil, I just masked around the edge of the mouth and went at it with a brush. The pencil sounds like it would be easier though. I'll give it a shot on my next one.

Unfortunately, it's never hit the water other than field testing. It work great and had a nice rip to it. My daughter thought it was kinda cute and I haven't seen it since. :-[
