While running new fuel line back to my motor.....I found this laying in the bottom of the outboard motor.

2008 Mercury 225 Optimax

Can anyone tell me what this is or where it goes?

I didn't see any place that 'looked' like it went.

    Looks like it was Mercury part number 815477 BUMPER Latch? (#15 in the diagram)
