I really wouldn't want to be seen in one. That's my biggest problem with it.

It will work great with a buddy system.  It takes two to fish it/them efficiently.  You take the two hemisphere boats and join them with a hinge so they can be folded together making a ball.  When you get to the water, you pull the hinge pin, separate them, and each can go your separate ways.

 

Being a ball, it will roll equally well in any direction on level ground.

 

The only thing you have to solve is how to secure all the peripheral gear so it doesn't all get scrambled together.

 

Hey, I came up with the hinge idea.  Someone else can figure out securing the loose gear.
