Questions On My First Rod That I Am Going To Build.

Featured Replies

Hey guys  I just started picking up Items for my first rod build and was hoping I could get some advice on a couple things

I stopped off at janns netcraft while I was in the area and picked up some of the things I needed for a crankbait spinning rod.

I have bought a Rain shadow CB76M.  as well as a set of microwave guides for this build

I was not really happy with the selection of reel seats that they offered so I am still in need of that.

I have been looking at the American tackle comfort seat as well as the Fuji seat,  I figure I will do a full EVA handle but  I would really like a EVA hood to cover the threads of the seat.  Does anyone know if I can buy a hood for either of these seats?

Fuji makes a hood you put your choice of grip on. Alps makes an Eva hood. I mount a reel in the hood and mark the extra threads and trim them off. I never put a fore grip on a bass rod unless it is requested.

If you have never used a comfort reel seat i would suggest it. The only down side is they seem to peel. I think Mudhole makes wooden ones that look real good.

Getbit doesn't carry the full length grip, and mudhole doesn't stock the foregrip. You would have to place two orders. It all goes together like a charm. This is what you'll end up with, only EVA for the front and rear grips.

What butt cap will you be using?

that will actually work perfectly,  I didn't know if those foregrips would fit.  I am not sure on the butt cap yet but figured I would just pick up a flared EVA one.  I have not found an intricate one that really jumps out at me.

Look at the rubberized cork composite butt caps at Mudhole. They are labeled VSS.

Congrats on the rod build and choosing a RainShadow blank!! If there are any parts we can help you out with, let us know as well. Jannsnetcraft carry our full line. If they don't have it in stock, they can get it for you.
