Fall/winters Project. It's Time To Clean Up My Tackle Room.

I hate to do it but I let it go for many years now. I have boxes of new baits, fishing line, reels all over the place. I have never been this messy.

I need a overhead rod rack. I made a 40rod rack but it's over flowing. Can we have too many rod setups.

How much tackle do you keep on hand?

Since I am new to bass fishing I am trying to keep it easy, I have a three rod set-up, plus:

4 jerkbaits,

4 toppers,

4 crank baits,

3 lipless crank baits,

4 jigs

1 Chatterbait

2 Buzzbaits

1 Spinner

5 types of worms

6 types of creature baits

3 Frogs

2 Swimbaits

16 hook types

6 weight types

2x - 12 lb flouro

50 lb braid

All in all not many lures I guess for a seasoned fisherman, but for a newbie I think its a fair representation of the different presentations/lures to learn from and build off of.

bill, let me know if you need my address to send all the surplus to.....

Impossible, Bill. I've been on a five year long attempt to trim down my tackle collection. I have more now than when I started. It is a losing battle.

I have conceded defeat, and decided to just go with the flow.

I have just crossed the threshhold of owning more tackle than I can comfortably carry while fishing. Now I need to figure out some form of storage for stuff I leave behind and a good system to pick out what I need for the trip.

I only have 2.  That is too, way too, way too much!

I have about 15 of those large spinnerbait plastic boxes full of plastics. I have cardboard boxes full of plastics, cranks, line, etc. I don't think I'm gonna win.

That's my stash. Now I have 18 or so tackle boxes full of stuff with a Denny Bauer Magnum boat bag.

I'm ready for a boat.

I'll get in line after buzzed bait for your excess tackle, bigbill. :)

Sounds like there's enough for me to get in line behind Evan! ;)

I can carry all of my tackle at once, so it's not a problem.

Bill, you seem passionate about helping younger kids get into fishing. I'd highly recommend helping out as many kids you can with excess stuff!

I take care of my excess stuff by giving it away or trading it with BR members. I've gotten reels, baits that I do use, ect. I don't have anything I don't throw annually.

I also have something about organizing the stuff I do have, I love organization and orderliness with tackle. In fact, I would be in heaven organizing your tackle room. Sounds like a great winter project.

My understanding is that an angler's Dedicated Tackle Room is always evolving. New gear comes in; old gear goes out.

Made some progress with outflow last winter by attending a flea market/swap meet for fishermen.

Back in the Tackle Room I note the walls closing in because of all the stuff (mostly packs of soft plastics) on the floor. This winter those will be sorted into labelled containers found at dollar stores and big box stores.

Recently at a tag sale, I bought a medium sized (30" wide X 15" deep X 66" tall) steel locker. This will be the perfect storage unit for the Lee Production Pot, ingots and molds as well as stacks of old magazines, line, tackle boxes - whatever other articles that don't fit into one of those nifty, stackable plastic cabinets used for components. Once I've cleared shelf space  on existing shelf units I'll have room for more small plastic cabinets . . . So it goes.

You will feel, once you've organized all your spread-out gear, that you're ready for great, creative deeds in the most important room in your residence!  Now . . . where did I leave the vacuum cleaner for the other rooms?

I have a lot of fishing tackle and can have difficulty organizing it but as far as tackle I keep on hand, I have about 15 rods and reels along with 20 or so 3700 boxes and 6 worm binders. It's a little excessive for what I really need to just go fishing but you never know when you need that one "special" bait!!

Lets see some pictures of your room!

I tried cutting down myself and when I try to post something up on the classifieds, I start over thinking and I dont want to part with it, and always end up buying more and more.
