You boys in Florida (anywhere actually, with similar habitat) generally speaking what lb test are you using on your spinning rods for bass?  I understand higher for flipping, punching or other specialty stuff, etc., but just generally.  Up here, NJ, Pa. NY it's 8 and 10.  I use 8lb Trilene XT. Of course  your fish on average are much bigger and the chance of getting something much larger down there are much greater.  Planning on moving down in the spring and so, curious.

Apparently this was a "Duh" question.  Early onset, possibly.

Braid

On my spinning reel I have 12lb yozuri copoly. It's tough enough to play those bigger fish with confidence when they come around. 

10 or 15lb test PowerPro  (15 is SuperSlick 8) is as

high as I go on spinning gear for fresh water. And I

use size 1000 Shimano reels, too.

 

6.6 lber in my avatar was caught on a 1000FI Stradic

with 10 lb PowerPro, and I think a 10lb leader.

 

I always tie on a leader and it'll be anywhere from 

4lbs to 15lbs. Usually a copoly like YoZuri Hybrid,

or P-Line Floroclear. Sometimes I'll tie BPS

fluorocarbon (old white box stuff).

Thanks guys. I fish Pflueger Supreme and Supreme XTs on Powell and Mojo Bass sticks almost always spooled with 8 lb. Trilene XT, but it's a different animal up here.  Most of my "serious" bass fishing is in upstate NY with smallies 2 to 6 lbs. As I said, hoping to move down in the spring and looking for info.  Thanks again
