I've using a St. Croix Premier ML/F rod and a 20 size Pfleuger President spinning reel for my dropshot setup since the day I decided to learn it. It has always done well for me on Lake Erie.

Didn't really need to upgrade, but things have been going well for me lately so I decided to have a "treat yo self" moment.

Picked up the new Fuego spinning reel in 2000 size. Spooled up with 15# Seagaur Kanzen (I can blame the recent thread on Kanzen for the purchase). The rod is a E6X 822S DSR, dropshot rod. Mag medium/XF.

I am stunned at the way it feels. It balances right at the end of the cork where my finger rest.

The combo fits perfectly for my hands.

I think the E6X is a terrific line of rods, and if you're on the fence about getting one I don't think you will be disappointed.

I will be taking this with on Sunday for a small club tournament. I'll report back with some more impressions, and hopefully football sized smallies to share.

I have the same rod and it has surpassed my expectations. 

GREAT rod, I picked up the same rod back in June and love it.

 

 

You'll have fun with those Erie smallies with that stick! Took mine up there for 4 days and I think I lost a single fish after hooking it with over 75 fish on the rod... It has enough power for those bigger fish but is "soft enough" to keep even the skin hooked fish from popping off.

Based on the bearing count, I may have one already. It makes it smoooooooooth. Some reels support 2. Plus it really helps to have one in the line roller.
