Sheepshead Smackdown (The Good Kind...saltwater)

I went to the Outer Banks with my dad and brother for 3 days back in early October. The weather prevented us from taking the boat in the ocean, so we made the best of what we had to work with. After 3 days, and Lord knows how many fiddler crabs later, we put 47 sheepshead in the boat. Sheepshead fishing is an absolute blast, it's like combining a tiny little drop shot bite with flippin', because once you latch onto one of those guys you better get him away from the pilings!

Way to make the best of it.

I did quite a bit of this when I was station in NC - Loved it.

And corralling the fiddlers was have the fun.

Your description is spot on.  Drop Shot'n a fiddler on a meat stick.

It's totally addicting and those fish can really PULL !

Congrats

NIce catch and great food too. They are bulldogs.

Wow, seeing those reminds me of when I lived in Corpus Christi Texas. We lived on the Navy base and would walk the seawall with a gig in hand, holding line in our other hand with a knot around our wrist. We would throw this spear at them as they ate mussels off the bottom of the wall. Once in a while we would even get one!
