Been using my tat all year with braid. No issues. Then I move it my crankbait rod, put some P-Line C21 12 LB and use for a month. Dreaded grooves in the TWS. End of season and ship back to Daiwa. There is something about the original TWS that a harder line does not mix well with. This is the second TWS that has grooved on me with a non braided line.  :dazed-7:

You aren't alone dude.. request that they give you the newer Zillion tws guide.

Lots of reports and evidence on fishing forums in asia but the denial of it over here in the US was ridiculous. People were claiming photoshop hoaxes, or people taking a file to the TWS to create the grooves by hand.

How the hell does a co poly groove in metal before braid does??? That boggles my mind.

No clue. Guessing more friction than braid causing heat? Braid is pliable so I am thinking that it does not keep it's round properties while moving over a flat surface. Copoly, mono and flourocarbon are a hard line that will hold the round properties. This would cause a smaller area of contact and a more concentrated area of heat and friction.

Looking at the 3 I'm selling with the spool completely filled the line rubs against it on retrieve. Looks like you gotta strip about 40yards of line off to the point where it goes straight from spool and out the hole with out touching that part. Any more than that the line is leaving the spool on a angle. Maybe they should have used a type of material that's used in guides???

From what I understand, that is how the part is redesigned now. I may be sidelined with a shoulder issue so maybe I can get it sent in earlier for repair. The reel is 2 years old. Just really been used this year. Will it still be covered under warranty for this?

Just got off phone with Daiwa. Even with the reel being 1.5 years since date of purchase they are going to replace. And replace with the new version. Very nice. Told me they are aware of the issue.

Good news!

Fast return. Daiwa received reel 11.17 and I just received back today. Unfortunately, the old version TWS was used to fix it. Since it is winter full blown now, will have to wait for spring to see if it holds up.
