Crankbait Setup

Featured Replies

So i've been looking around for a good crankbait setup. Right now Bass Pro has a crankin stick and abu garcia orra 2 winch combo for $150. I'm just wondering if this would be a good beginner setup for crankbaits and I would also like some advice on gear ratio and rod length/power/action that would handle most crankbaits.

here is a link to the combo:

All depends on what you're doing.  Are you looking to do more deep cranking or fishing more squarebill/ lipless baits?

Mostly squarebills and medium divers could a 5.4:1 reel cover it? Thats what the combo comes with and it would save me some money by buying the combo.

MH, 7' = all around cranking rod, gear ratio anywhere from 5:1 to 6.3:1.

I'd second Tom's post.

Yep. That should cover it.

7' Medium.  You want some give to the rod using small trebles.  Decent combo!

I agree^. I prefer a medium power rod for squarebills and shallow to medium cranks. That combo would be pretty sweet!
