New combos

Featured Replies

Hi I just bought two new bait casting combos.

one is a lews American hero 6'10" MH 7.1.1.

the other is a quantum real I put together with a 7' medium like quantum smoke with a 6.3.1 quantum octane reel.

I am wanting to know what type of lures I can throw on both of these. Thanks

The quantum smoke is a 7' medium *light. Sorry auto correct.

They make a Smoke ML rod?  You can pretty much do everything, but frog fishing and heavy flipping.  The 7' (if its a "M") would be good for treble hook applications running 12# test.

Don't think you have to limit yourself to a couple techniques with each rod.....unless you want to.  Rather limit the lures to the correct weight range for the rod....and somewhat to its action.  The 6'10" MH should make a decent all-around rod.  Is it a Fast action?  I fish shallow crankbaits (normally to 8 feet).  Therefore I don't fish crankbaits on a MH as a general rule unless it is a larger squarebill or lipless.  Everything else is pretty much fair game.  :teeth3:

I don't really know if it's a fast action I will look when I get home but I don't think it is.

I have the same American hero combo. It was given to me from hank parker. But that's beside the point but it realy is a rod you can do a lot with. I have used mine to Texas rig, jig fish, jigging spoon, topwatters, chatterbaits, square bill, flukes ,senkos, buzzbaits, small flutter spoons, hollow body swimbaits, you  can do a lot with it an I'v caught a lot of fish on mine it's held up well an I'm rough on stuff. I haven't caught any pigs on it but it's coming soon.
