Lews Equipment
In all honesty tho I would have to say if I was to change anything about a lews reel, or if there was something I didn't care for. It'd be the drag system. Not that I have personally had a problem with it but it's tempting to look at reels for instance *** reels that has almost twice the drag strenth of lews an worder if you would need that extra lock down power so it doesn't slip when your trying to get big fish out of heavy cover fast. Either way that don't change the fact that Lew's reels are amazing an that they are the only company I use for my reels in my reel arsonal.

High School Tournament Fishing
I'm gone be fishing my third year of high school tourniments this year. the best advice I can give you is just fish for five fish i know that sounds crazzy like everyone knows that but what I'm. saying is you ain't out there fishing against kvd. your fishing against high school students. an even the big names high school "studs" show up to weigh in without a limit some days just stick to simple technics an catch a limit an you will have a nice finish at any high school tourniment.....also what state are you gone be fishing in?

whopper plopper?
Its my absolute favorite topwatter lure at the moment. I love the action an the fish I'v been around love it an there is no beter way to catch them then on topwatter. an living in the southeastwith nothing but blue back hearing lakes around I'm use to throwing spooks an pencil popers an other "schooling baits" an I can get wait to start chucking the wopper plopper at them when they move back out for the summer an start schooling. as of rn I'm catching them on it during the spawnnothing big but I am fishing in ponds but I know it'll catch them on the lake just the same.

the official lost tackle of 2016 thread v1
during the same tourniment I lost three yo zuri square bills. two was on the same stretch of rip rap about two minutes apart. a chatterbait a rod sock that flew off in a boat ride. a jig a wobble head a shad rap an I'm pretty shure I'm forgetting a few things. the worst part is I got the yo zuris in the night.before the tourniment from tackle wearhouse an lost three the next day.

Favorite shaky head worm?
If your on tackle wearhouse get some zoom magnum shaky head worms. ( there hard to find in stores around here) they are great an I also like to use regular trick worms. an i fish them on a 1/4 ounce shaky head for the most part.

Pond Fishing
ponds are the hardest thing in my opinion to pattern. they fish so difrent even in the same County just miles apart. I fish alot of ponds an some a jig is the best bait to use an others just 5 minutes away you can try all you want an not get bit on a jig same with chatterbaits or cranks or anything els I suggest going out to the pond an fishing everything you own find out what they bite in that pond an if you go to anougher forget about the last pond an start from scratch an you will find what works best in it. it's a hard question to give a direct answer on but any think you can fish shallow or finesse is a good place to start.

chatterbait techniques
I like fishing chatterbaits with a boot tail swimbait like a caffeine shad on a slow to medium retrieve an that's about all I do. an it seems to work fine for me.

Line for Lew's LFS
litterly any line you want. it realy matters where you are fishing what you are fishing with an every other detail under the sun but imho seince you are just starting I'd go with berkly big game mono like 14 pound. seince you are just starting out your bound to have some pretty nasty back lashes an sometimes you just have to cut them out an that can be pretty expensive to do with braid an flurocarbon plus atleast in my area it seems to be a good all around line.

Help me start a 3 rod setup
I have the tournament lite an honestly like it ok it is a good reel an I ain't had a problems out of it an I currently fish chatterbaits an square bills with it. but in my honest opinion I'd pick up a lews bb1. I like it a whole lot better an I got mine for cheaper than my tournament lite.

First Rod and Reel
I can't disagree with you that a spinning rod is used to catch big fish an I ain't saying that a spinning rod doesn't have its benefits because it shurly dose an I know over half of the bass I'v caught in my life have came off of spinning gear. I have a spinning rod with me everytime I go fishing. but for a starter rod for someone that has no idea what they are going to throw I'd suggest a medium fast action casting rod you can fish alot more things more efectiantly. one of the reasons I bout my first casting rod is because I fell in love with fishing hollow body frogs. an no matter what I tried I couldn't stick a fish with it tied on to a spinning rod so I bought a bait caster an my hookup ratio skyrocketed. I understand an respect your point of veiw but from mine I think that there are alot of very popular ways of fishing that he could fish better on bait casting rod if they could only have one. I'm glad to see he decided to buy one of both because that is great an in due time he will probly be adding to the collection an upgrading it. an that's great. he can now figure out what he likesays more an he can make decisions in the future about what else to get. also you have to remember it depends on what part of the country you in to what would be most efficient. if you finesse fishing up north in supper clear watter a spinning rod would probly be better suited but if you down south around alot of grass timber whatever a bait casting would probly be more efficient.I fish in south Carolina an unless I'm fishing little crankbaits my spinning rods have atleast 10 pound normally up to 12 pound line because if I'm not throwing a crankbait on a spinning rod I'm skipping docks an getting way back over cross beams an all that. so realy it's just personal preference an fishing style but to someone that doesn't realy know what there favorite way of fishing is yet I would have to say imho that a bait caster would be more efficient.

First Rod and Reel
I know it's kinda a big jump from a push button to a bait casting but it realy ain't that hard to learn to throw a bait caster. an i was mentioning the fact that he can throw a more wide variety of baits with a bait caster so if he starts to get into bass fishing. he can throw alot more baits with one rod instead of having to bite a bullet an buy anougher combo. you never know having to fork out money for anougher combo might be what turns him off of fishing.

Being the best prepared for a tournament
I fish high school tourneys in south Carolina an without a boat I don't get to prefish much but when I do the patern I find in practice doesn't work out during the tourniment. what I suggest doing that works for me is do as much research on the lake as posible an pick out what pattern you think they should be biteing an go fishing it if it don't work start fishing the baits you have the most confedence in that time of year an you will catch more fish than something that you are forcing yourself to fish.

Multi Purpose Rods for Co-angler
make it simple and leave out the brands medium fast action spinning rod medium fast action bait casting medium heavy fast action casting heavy fast action casting medium action crankbait rod medium heavy crankbait rod those six rods can cover just about every way you can think to fish. reel speeds an what line is on the reel is up to you an relates to the way you fish.An anougher tip with your rods be shure to buy rod gloves an rod ties for your rods it makes life so much easier just be shure you have a place to put them weil on the boat an they WILL fly off a rod an disapear into the lake.

What do you guys eat during a tournament?
I normally have a monster with the screw on lid a gaterade or two an a ham sandwich. an maybe a left over buisquts from hardes that I stuffed in my pocket on the way to the lake.
