What do you guys eat during a tournament?

Featured Replies

Been fishing in some local club tournaments lately, and after I finally organize brilliantly my bait choices for the trip, I do have some difficulty deciding on the ideal lunch or snack. I fish hard and have to force myself to sit down and eat some lunch on the boat. I want something quick, satisfying, not messy, not soggy, and healthy enough. Actually, I was thinking of a chocolate bar sandwich on a baguette -- like they do in France -- for next time.  (Or sardines? Might attract bass better than Bang.)

I realize this is a cheesy topic, but I really am interested in what you guys bring along to eat for a long day on the water. Hoping to get some new ideas.

(My last co-angler said he eats the same soggy ham sandwich on white bread every fishing trip for the past 20 years. Yuck.)

Thanks!

I used to drink coffee and have a banana or two on the boat til that faithful day in September.

Had the boat launch been 10 seconds further from where I was at. I would have had to drop a five pounder in the live well.

Now I stick with a monster and some granola bars.

I usually bring a couple protein bars, whole wheat sandwiches, and a couple water bottles with me when I plan to fish for several hours.

Same thing I eat during a normal day, PB&J's along with a couple waters and probably a Monster.

I just take a few bottles of Powerade and water to drink and something to snack on like trail mix or crackers.

I have a healthy smoothie I keep on ice, i use it throughout the course of my every day life to skip meals to save calories. Other than that I bring water, and some type of energy drink if it's going to be an early trip or a late trip with little to no sleep.

Cuban sandwich

Just take a couple protein bars and water. I am a co so I will not take anything that will stain the boat. The bars are quick, easy and keep me going for the day.

Unless I have something left over from the night before that is easy to eat in a boat PB&J gets the nod. Usually have a pack or 2 of peanut butter crackers for when we make runs too.

Jerky and nabs

i don't fish tournaments, but do fish for 6-8 hours at a time from the yak.  i usually take some jerky, granny smith apples and whatever chips or crackers i can find in the pantry.

X 2 on this one.  Hard to beat a couple of good PB&J's!!!!!  and lots of Ice Water.:P:P:P

I used to take chicken wings and a couple granola bars with water and a gatorade, just put the wings in a ziplock,..they arent bad cold and the bones are biodegradeable

Ice chest has smoked ham provalone motzarella lettuce and miracle whip in it, and 15 grain pepperidge farm bread. That makes a mean sandwich.

I dont fish tourneys but am often on water 8hrs or so in spring and fall. I keep more than plenty of gatorade and water on ice in cooler. Normally i get a biscuit on the way and just grab some crackers, granola bars, and a can of chips out of my work snack stash i keep in my truck. Its what i snack on everyday at work.

Boudin, couple boiled eggs, ham, chesse, crackers, Promise Land milk, Gatorade.

What ever I feel like after breakfast!

Cold pizza beats those healthy protein bars any day.  Eat anytime you're in a no wake zone, if possible.

Gatorade or water to drink.

Thanks guys! Pretty much everyone keeps it simple, except for Bass newb who fishes from a paddleboard yet takes along half a grocery store, and Catt, who brings boudin, which is Cajun magic. Tight lines folks -- er, after the ice melts.

2 lightly buttered plain bagels, Enteman's PopEms, large black cofee, turkey and swiss on a hero (that's a hogie for ya'll), a little mayo, salt and pepper, Utz salt and vinegar potatoe chips, can of Coke, large orange Gatorade, large Deer Park water. That's for Salt water tournaments. Winning makes me hungry. LMB is a very reduced version of the same.

Snickers candy bars. Hey, my doctor says they're a healthy choice :D. Always bring jerky, but rarely eat it and water and sugarfree Red Bull. The flask with Mr.Walker is for when the boat's back on the trailer....

Dude, that's sandwich fixins' in the cooler of my new boat. Couldn't be much simpler other than that other than denying myseld the pleasure of miracle whip.

Big boys' gotta eat.

Monster first thing in the morning then for lunch a sandwich and soda or water depending on what the weather is like.
