Favorite water you've fished.
Clearlake. I was fortunate enough to take a few trips there when I started bass fishing.

Correct, days 2 and 3 canceled. The boater and boat washed up on shore last night around 930pm. Boater is in the hospital. They are still searching for the coangler.

Best Flip and Pitch rod opinions?
I just purchased a 7'6" Heavy Extra Fast Carbonlite rod from BassPro and love it. Paired with the brand new Carbonlite 2.0 reel. Its extremely light, Pitches very smooth, great backbone and very sensitive.

Lets say "hypothetically" you are registered in next weekend's FLW Costa Series at The Big "O" as a Co-Angler and you can only take 4 baits with you, GO......

Looking for BFL boater link Gator Division
Would any boater planning on fishing the BFL Gator Division be interested in linking with me for priority registration for the upcoming season? I just moved from the west coast where I fished the Costa series. Unfortunately, I havent had the chance to meet anyone out here on the East Coast yet. Please let me know if you are in need of a co-angler link. Thanks in advance. Doug

co angler: how to fish "slow"
I learned my lesson a little while back. I was a Co in a tournament where the Pro up front got to call all of the shots (and rightfully so in this format). He was screaming down the bank while hugging it and I couldn't even make bottom contact behind. To make it worse, we were running between the bank and timber, so behind the boat was my only option. I have found that heavy (3/4 or 1 oz) swinging jigheads, 1oz snag free (lindy rig weights) for C-Rig, and some heavy weighted swimbait hooks should always be in your arsenal. It may not be the slow finesse style you are looking for, but at least there are a few options to catch fish. Good Luck!

- FLW Western Series - Shasta
I caught tons of fish, but I struggled to find size all week in practice. Most were caught 20-30 feet. I dredged a few up on a dropshot in up to 50 feet, but again 1.25 pounders. The first day of the tourney I caught 15-20 keepers and culled up to 7lbs 5oz. The second day my pro flew down the banks throwing an A Rig. I struggled to even make bottom contact behind the boat with some pretty heavy stuff. I only managed four keepers which hurt me in the standings. I caught most on a football jig with a Yamamoto Hula Grub. I also caught a few on a Bifffle Hard Head with the same hula grub which allowed me to work some of the points a little faster. Caught a few on the Keitechs but no love with the spinnerbait. Had a lot of fun.....those Spots know how to fight!- What do you guys eat during a tournament?

Ok, exactly what I'm prepping for then. The rain gear is ready to go....that lake is on the rise. Thanks for the response and good luck to you this season!- FLW Western Series - Shasta
Thanks for the response. Yes, I signed up for the Delta and Clear Lake. I am pretty excited for the season to get started. I was going to fish the Clear Lake tournament last year, but the wildfires threw the schedule off for me.....so its been a long wait to get my first taste of a big event.- FLW Western Series - Shasta
In two weeks I will be fishing in my first FLW Event as a Co-angler on Lake Shasta. I have never fished that lake before, but from my research it looks like it will be primarily Spotted Bass that everyone is catching and it look like they will be deep...probably finesse fishing. I am taking my boat up there so I will get in a good four days of practice beforehand. I was wondering if anyone that knows the lake would agree with what I've read?- Flw Rayovac Clear Lake
I am planning on heading out to Clear Lake in September and fishing the FLW Rayovac Clear Lake Tournament (first time). I am registered as a co-angler and currently on a very long waiting list. My question is, if there are not enough pros/boaters signed up would it be a bad idea for me to enter in as a "pro" or boater? I ask because I have a 2006 Ranger 178 VS. This would mean I would have a co-angler assigned to fish with me. Most co-anglers sign up to fish with a pro, which I definitely am not. In fact I have very limited tournament experience (club level). Would having a 17' 8" boat be a problem? It does have a split livewell, and Im not sure of capacity but it definitely not the size of the 20+ footers that will be a that type of tournament. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. - FLW Western Series - Shasta
