  1. I didn't even know it was going to be on keowee. tbh I'll probly go being a high school angler looking to fish in colledge I think it would be a good experience to go see how things are ran.
  2. I suggest lews reels I love them whole heartedly. yeah buying something off the shelf or off tw I'd go with the tourniment mb but you can get on ebay an find the reel a good bit cheaper than tw sales them an as much as I love tw Im a high school angler without a reel job so I have to cut corners as much as posible. with that said I would get on ebay anot try an find you a deal on a BB1 speed spool for the crankbait rod a tourniment lite for the jerk bait rod an honestly probly anougher bb1 for the all purpose rod just because I love fishing with mine so much.
  3. I swear by lews an I love every reel I have. but I think my bb1 speed spool nudges the others out. I don't have the bb1 pro. an i don't have the more expensive reels but the bb1 is a great reel imho I agree with you on that I bought one for fishing chatterbaits an it is a fantastic reel but I have to say the bb1 is my favorite.
  4. imma go against the grain of everyone else an say pick up a abu garcia black max bait casting combo. Shure it'll take a little practice to get good at it but you will get the hang of it pretty quick an you can fish a whole lot more techniques with a bait casting Combo. I got my fist bait caster like a year an a half ago an it took me no time to learn how to cast.
  5. realy the tournament mb I would never of thought it would hold up to big swimbaits.
  6. tackle wearhouse has great customer service I'v had the wrong item sent on acident an they took it back an exchanged it a month latter no questions asked.
  7. I suggest the lews. I swear by them they are the best feeling reels for the money imho.
  8. just try something new if you fish Texas rigged trick worms try a creature bait or a craw if you fish a square bill try throwing a lip less just try an change.
  9. I'm not saying I don't use braid or flurocarbon but mono is what I try an lean towards if I can get away with it if I know im gone fish topwatter I normal go with braid an if I know I'm going to be around heavy brush I'll go with it to an when I'm done it normally gets wondering back onto the spool to use again next time I need it.
  10. like alot of the others I use big game on a lot of my reels for alot of situations. I fish high school tourniments an don't have alot of money an I'm fairly picky about how often I change my line so anything other than mono realy hurts my pockets. an i do recommend big game it is the best mono I have used it proved it self to me at Kentucky lake for nationals when you had to turn the trolling motor on high an it would about pull the rod out of your hands befor you could get 14 pound mono to break.
  11. I suggest checking out the lews the 100 Dolor speed spool. It is the best 100 Dolor reel in my opinion. Every reel I own but two are lews an I love every one. I feel like they are the best for the money!
  12. It is a grass lake just to let you know lol. I've only been once during a tourniment an it didn't go over to we'll. It was a tough day took like 10 pounds to win but the onlything that saved the day for us was schooling fish off an island we happened to come across them schooling an would just sit and wait for them to come up an throw spooks at them. Also I'v been told the dunbleached fluke rig tears them up there. I wish I could help more but I realy don't know the lake that good. Lake Murray is my lake.
  13. Im a lews guy. So that's what I have to suggest go with at least the 100 speed spool an id get a tournament mb. But even just the 100 Dolor speed spool will do they will stand up to anything you put them threw an be just fine in the end I haven't caught no giant bass on my speed spool. But it proved it self to me when it caught a 50+ pound soft shell turtle anot still works like brand new after thirty minutes of drag being pulled
  14. I have the same American hero combo. It was given to me from hank parker. But that's beside the point but it realy is a rod you can do a lot with. I have used mine to Texas rig, jig fish, jigging spoon, topwatters, chatterbaits, square bill, flukes ,senkos, buzzbaits, small flutter spoons, hollow body swimbaits, you can do a lot with it an I'v caught a lot of fish on mine it's held up well an I'm rough on stuff. I haven't caught any pigs on it but it's coming soon.
  15. Pick what you like best but to me lews is the best I own three lews reels at the moment an have two more in a ups truck on the way to the house. I absolutely love them. With that being said my partner ( I fish high school tourbament) is a abu guy. An I use his reels pretty regularly. But I think that lews is a better product for the money by a long shot. But go to the store an pick up both an play with them. Pick whatever you think is best.
