Jig Paints

Featured Replies

I am wanting to paint some jigs to save money.  I would like to use water based paints.  From what I have read vinyl paints have a strong odor and I would like to stay away from that.  Would also like to stay away from powder painting as well.  I know this is very open in terms of information but I have no experience with painting at all and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Why do you want to stay away from powder paints?  Very easy and durable.

why not powder paint????? so easy and quick and very very very durable! idk wat other option there is other than powder paint!

I only use powder, but I believe if you use water-based paint, you need to finish it off with an epoxy coat. Am I correct on that, guys?

Any paint other than powder will need to be epoxy coated. As a winter time model builder, I have used whatever paint I have on hand - acrylic/latex, lacquer and enamels - all work well. All these paints need to cure adequately (enamels taking the longest) before epoxy should be applied, making powder paints much faster.
