Shocked, no real bass club in the Pittsburgh area?

Featured Replies

Been looking for a bass club in the Pittsburgh/W. PA area and have been disappointed. Of the 3 I've found 2 failed to respond to multiple attempts to contact them and the third requires WAY too much money for entry/membership fees.

So I've decided to start a small bass tournament club. Hoping for around 20 members for small but fun tournaments in the W. PA area. Facebook page will be up this week and first tournament will be April 9th at Cross Creek Lake entry fee $15.00

Pretty standard rules artificial lures only, top 5 bass count, penalties for dead/injured bass. Only rules that differ from the norm....no boats, shore fishing only, bass measured by length not weight.

If you are interested please either post below or PM me, thanks!

Contact the Pennsy BASS Federation for a list of clubs in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Good luck.

No, appreciate it, but this is the same list that I went off of. Either no response to multiple inquiries, WAY overpriced, or not really in the area.

Nope, I see a need for a small time, low cost, but still fun and competitive bass club in the W. PA area and I'm going to see if I can fill it.

So will there be an official 'weigh' in at the end of the day...or is it going to be a honor system by taking pics of the catch next to a measure stick?

What other areas would you plan on having as tournament spots?

I'd be so down if I was in Pitt ! Like the idea .

Winner determined by measuring is interesting. How would you make weights official ? Everyone needs to be measured on the same type of board.

Also, especially in the north, you can catch and older worn out  23" bass and have it be lighter than than one that is 21" and in her prime.. not opposed to the idea tho ! Quick release ensures good genes for the years to come.

Some let money get in the way of that..

I wish I could afford to fish those high priced tournaments. Awesome boat with crazy gear....

I still get my bass thumb though. And my family is eatin'

I know of over half a dozen clubs around Pittsburgh that have yearly due's of well under $100...

However, one that is shore fishing only, I do not know of. Best of luck in your start up.

We use TourneyX for kayak bass tournaments.  It's pretty cool stuff.
