Rod Paint?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience painting a rod blank? I'm just wanting to paint a few inches at the bottom of the rod, so the exposed blank between the handle and butt is a different color. What kind of paint would you use, and how would you apply it?

I used an oil based spray paint for this build.

Since you are only painting the butt and there will be no flex you could probably use about anything.  Enamel or even the small automotive paints available at your local auto parts store.  What ever you use, prepping the blank and protecting the paint with a finish is the trick to making it last.

Krylon spray and clear coat has been done on full rods. Should be fine I'm the butt area with little to no flex as pointed out. A short section like that wrapping is always an option as well.

Thanks, guys. I'll try the Krylon.
