Pond Spawing Bass in NC/SC

Featured Replies

This weekend in the Carolinas (no snow here) and as the spawn time comes closer I was looking for advice if this weekend would be a good one to hit the ponds. The forcast in my area is going to be around 60 and was wondering if the mamas had made their ways to their beds by now. There wasnt much perciptation from storm Jonas and do you think the bass will be active now  Thank You

The spawn is still a long ways off but I always fish warming trends in the winter.  On and after the third day with a high of at least 50 degrees and especially if it has been sunny, the bass feed well.

the spawn is at least 2 months away still. Here in NC the snow has cleared and a warm front has hit. The pond near me have been producing HUGE fish as they are trying to take advantage of the warmth and feed. I usually throw a shaky head worm or a senko around cover and usually that produces bites. Try throwing some berkley money maker senkos (wacky rigged). Best bait this time of year!!!!!!

I caught 2 Saturday that were getting the gut though. I'm in the piedmont of SC and the spawn in local ponds is usually all throughout the month of April.

Good news is though the bite may be slow (maybe one or none a day) this is a really good time to catch the bigger bass in the pond. The bites tend to be from bigger bass now.

If the dogwood blooms come and go, spawn is probably over. Good luck.
