I've heard really great things about this product.  Was wondering how you apply it - paintbrush, old shirt, etc?  How thick do you apply it?  One coat? Anythingh else I should know?

I just dip a piece of paper towel into it and spread it around. It's not difficult to accomplish. Just make sure you wipe off the excess as the drips will harden. I usually rotate the rod handle with my hands, until it's reasonably dry. This way I can also see if one spot or another has sucked it in dry and I can re-coat.

I use a little artist or craft brush. Dip it in U-40 and apply it by rotating Rod in my hand. Top to bottom. ONE coat. Turn it round and round and spread out any excess. 

    Make sure to clean cork first with Magic Eraser. It also works well. 

Do 2 or 3 rods at a time while you have everything ready. By time you finish the 3rd one , 2 will be dry. 

Clean with magic eraser and apply one coat. I use a tooth brush helps get in the pores it's good stuff.

The only reason I can see for adding an additional coat woul be that you feel you may have missed an area, as once it is dry it keeps moisture out. 

brush on with a bristle brush, remove runs or drips. Let dry. Second coat will not penetrate. 

Thanks, any harm on it hitting other rod parts (not on purpose and would wipe clean after).  

It's just a water based polymer not caustic at all. Wipe drips clean before it dries no problem. 

really easy to do, but don't waste any time/money on a second coat, it does absolutely nothing.
