Got some more new pattern's painted up this week!

Featured Replies

I got my hand's on some allen lures 'MILO's this week. They are some of the best lipless bait's ever made! They have a big knocker in the front and rattles in the back. All I could get are the 1oz, which kinda worried me but after trying them out Sunday I don't have a problem with them. They run about 4ft at a steady retrieve. Caught a 2 1/2lber on my 3rd cast with one. Had to paint them up and here are some of the pattern's I came up with. What do you think..

x2  Those shiner patterned lures look fantastic.

Cracker, all the baits look great.   You still da man ;)

without a doubt those are the best looking baits i have ever seen......Id like to have one just to put it on display above my fireplace!

I have to say, wouldnt mind that swamp monkey, looks like the bluegill in my canal. pike and bass would go nutz over that color!

I searched all your threads because I can't get enough of the awesome work you do man.

It's a crackle medium you can buy at walmart or hobby lobby. Very cool stuff but hard to get it consistant, it has a mind of it's own....!

Ain't that the truth, it will make you invent some cuss words! ;D

That crackle medium crap just bites.   I have some crazy fish catching patterns in my mind but the crackle crap won't obey >;)

lolol...I know exactly what you guy's are talkin' about..lol... I fill up my cup on my airbrush with the crackle medium, pull the needle back just a hair( it's a little thicker than paint), and shoot the area I'm going to crackle. Make sure to put it on kinda thick. Then I will take a small brush and make brush stroke's in it and spread it around. Then crackle is supposed ( :)) to follow the brush stroke's. Let it set until almost dry. then spray your paint thick over top of it. Hit it with the blowdryer and hope it work's.. lol. The trick is the dry time. If you have puddle's of it on the bait the crackle will just pull apart wherever the puddle is. I've actually let it dry (about 10min) and had it work great. Once...or twice.... ;).. Have fun with it.....

Just curious... How long have you been painting lures?

Yeah, it's lucky pics show only one side of a crackle crankbait because the other side usually ain't the same! I get best results when I brush the medium on both sides at once, then shoot the paint and dry both sides simultaneously. There are LOTS of variables: What surface the medium is applied onto, how much medium, how much and what kind of paint, medium wet or dry when painted, how fast you dry the paint. Doing both sides at once cuts down on the variability. When I tried shooting acrylic crackle medium through my airbrush, it came out looking like a thick spider web. Not so great for crankbaits but maybe handy if you are making a creepy horror film.

I loosen the needle nut and pull the needle out just a hair and it shoot's out fine.  Just got to make sure and put some brush stroke's in it. Very cool but a pain in the butt!   ;)... Been painting about 3 years boss..
