Megabass levante or powell endurance

Featured Replies

anybody have any thoughts or opinions on the megabass rods like the levante. thought about trying one out

Have not fished a Levante. However they are based on the Orochi XX series which I absolutely love. Split grips and a step down in sensitivity from there though. Some of the tapers changed from the XX line too.

Thanks friend. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to stick to my powell endurance rods or to give the levante a try. I don't wanna start kicking myself later for not trying then but I don't wanna start kicking myself for getting rid of the Powells if it turns later on either

anyone else? would it be worth going from powell and giving the levante a try

I have a Pefect Pitch and it's an amazing rod. I don't believe you'll regret the purchase. I've never used a Powell so I can't make a comparison, but the Levante is beautifully crafted, light, and strong. Also, the EVA foam they used is the highest grade, densest foam I've laid my hands on. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Haven't had to use it. But the guy at TW told me it sucks. TW has 12 month replacement on it. If there is a flaw in the construction it will usually give in the first serval months.

I wouldn't have have thought something like that. I think what you said earlier has persuaded me to give them a try and get rid of the couple of endurance rods I got. what about the sensitivity of the rods?

The sensitivity is fair to good in my opinion. I mostly use it for frogging so it doesn't matter too much. Is it as sensitive as my Poison Adrena? No, but it's comparable. Sensitivity is really subjective so it's hard to say. Especially since I have 50lb braid on mine, which transmits everything. Taking a jump into superficial world, it's the coolest looking rod I've ever owned. It's a sexy fishin' stick man.

Interesting, I have exact opposite experience with their customer service. They usually respond within the 1 business day after I sent them a message. I had to get a rod warrantied(when the wind shut my trunk on the rod), it wasn't covered by their policy, but they sent me a brand new one within a week after I sent mine in. A lot of companies tout their customer services, but you are already paying for them when you buy your product, just like insurance. Megabass of America did me a great favor by going out of their way to help me out, and I truly appreciate it.

I don't own a Levante but I have other rods from Megabass. I'm a huge fan of the Endurance series. I've owned a handful of them and I still have 1 that I won't get rid of. They're some of the best balanced rods I've ever owned. Fish ranger used to sell them for $150 and that was a steal for those rods. It fishes well above its price point.  I've heard mixed reviews on the Levante. I'd take a look at the Shimano Zodias also in the $200 range.

My problem with the Levante is that if I were to purchase one, then I'd have to pick up an Exsense to put on it.  Aesthetically, that is one sweet looking setup.

True. I wasn't going to say it, but yes, you would have to get an Exsense too. It wasn't completely intentional. I thought they may match up well based on pictures, but they were made for one another. It isn't just aesthetics either, it casts a hollow body frog a country mile with barely any effort. I was a bit frightened spending that much without putting my hands on it, but I'm so pleased with my purchase. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a sicker combo for $450.
