Internal vs External Rigging

Featured Replies

I'm probably already doing this, but don't use the correct terms. For a swimbait, what's the difference between "internal" and "external" rigging? Thanks. Any tips are appreciated.

Where did you pick up the terms?

Every region in the country has different terminology when it comes to bass fishing.

My guess would be how the hooks are attached, internal hook like a weedless swimbait bait and external hooks hanging on the outside or protruding outside the swimbait.

The Butch Brown rig adding a head mounted treble hook to a Huddlestom 8" trout swimmer would be external rigging. Running a wire through the swimbait body to attached a rear stinger hook could also be internal rigging a external hook.

I don't know what that means either.   I could make up an answer, but that could get weird.   First question, Internal or external rigging of what?

Either that or he's talking about swimbaits with built in hooks vs swim baits with hooks you rig yourself?  I have no idea.

ya, that probably make more sense, comes with "internal" hardware or you get the hardware yourself, hence the "external"
