For my first vessel, what should I get under 1000? Has to be able to fit 2 people and have some storage space.  Will fish a calm 200 or so acre lake.

For under $1000 I'd say bass raider 10E

Find a used square stern canoe and a 4 hp motor. Should be able to do that for under $1000. Plenty of room for gear, 2nd person, and relatively stable.
