Going on a little ocean fishing adventure on the pacific queen 1.5 day trip any one made the trip or fished down there? It's about 120 miles down Baja...

Rockfish, lings, and possible yellows on the yo-yo iron.  What's your question?

 

How deep are you generally fishing for the rockfish and Lings? Should I have braid? Trying to deside what to spoil my reel with.

They normally fish less then 300ft.  I would set up with 65lb braid, and if you're going to have a set up for the yo-yo iron, then add a 20ft leader/topshot of 40lb mono to it.  If you're going to take two set-ups then put 50lb braid on the other and fish 30-40lb leaders for rockfish.  Or just stick to 65lb braid.  Get yourself a few Salas 6x Jr's (scambled egg, blue and white, all white) when you get down there as well as a couple Salas 6x's (same colors).

Caught 4 yellow tail to 25 pounds some white fish a nice ling and some rockfish. Great trip!
