Jake's Bait & Tackle - For Winchester VA & folks nearby

Featured Replies

I've lived in my town for 17 years and had no clue this shop was here. I've been stuck with a few lousy Walmarts and a Gander Mountain that has been in decline fishing tacklewise for several years... I stumbled upon this tiny little bait shop packed to the gills with premium lures as well as local bait manufacturers. If you live in the WV Panhandle or anywhere near Winchester VA, a trip to Jake's Bait & Tackle is well worth your time. Plus, they rent out the local Ruritan clubhouse every so often for pro seminars, fishing clubs, etc. They have had a fishing vender fair in their parking lot with a couple of dozen vendors coming.  I wish I'd have known about this place before sinking so much of my $$$ in Gander...

Thanks for the reminder Avalon.  I live about 35 minutes away and have peeked in the windows after they closed but have never stopped in.  I don't get to Winchester often as I live 10 minutes from Hagerstown but I need to get down to Jake's and check it out.  When I do drive to Winchester for fishing items it's always to Gander Mountain and I agree with you, the fishing department is going downhill there...

He's open every day 10-5 except Sundays I believe.

How are their prices? I live about an hour away in Sperryville and wonder if it'd be worth the trip. I've been into some smaller bait shops and they carry most of the same stuff but the prices are $1-2 more than in the super stores. However, they do tend to carry more variety.
