$25 Outdoor Angler Baitcast Reel

Featured Replies

I was at Walmart the other day, and notice the Outdoor Angler Baitcast Reel on one of the shelves. Outdoor Angler is Walmart's fishing brand. It was going for $25. Anyone have experience with this reel? At the price, I don't think it's good, but you never know.

At that price for a baitcaster I just can't believe it is worth the small $25 risk. Could be wrong but I'd bet it doesn't have a metal frame. To me doesn't matter how good the rest is if its all plastic.

I have seen that reel on the shelf and was somewhat curious about the quality.  The blister packaging keeps you form getting any reel feel of the reel, so its hard to say what kind of quality or lack of quality it offers.  Just a couple of hooks over and a for few extra dollars you can get an Abu Black Max those have been around forever and are a proven low price perfectly usable reel.  I still would like to hear anything good or bad that someone who has tried the Outdoor Angler reel has to say so I'm subscribing to this thread.

Gander Mountain has the Daiwa Laguna on sale for $30. I'd grab one of those before even thinking about Walmart's attempt at a baitcast reel.

I already have a good reel. I was just curious at a $20 bait caster at Walmart. Knowing how Walmart often has good sales, it's possible that the price of this reel will go down in the teens. I was just curious. I know that the "Outdoor Angler" brand from Walmart has some good stuff (The spinning reel is good).

I have seen some of the outdoor angler stuff at walmart, currently they have a bunch of hardbaits for 1.50 in bins. I like some of walmart's fishing stuff, they have good deals on a lot of stuff. I bought a gander mountain branded reel last year and was really dissapointed. As far as baitcast reels go, I'm going to stray away from the house brands.

I have one of the spinning reels. Its junk and wasnt worth the $15 i spend on it. Wish i had just spent a few more and got a pflueger trion.
