My concern with the dog leash or chaulk line would be getting your lure hooked on an old catfish rig, then getting your knocker hooked on the same line. Not sue what the pound rating is on those items, but I don't know if they could straighten a 1-2X treble or break 25# catfish line. Might lose the whole thing! 

 

See that hook on mine.  Will break through gill net.  Shouldn't have a problem with it!
