Misawa Japan Bass Fishing?

Featured Replies

Hey folks, just got some bitter sweet new. Me and my family will be headed to Misawa, Japan this December. Wanted to know if there is any bass fishing that far north of Japan?  Any info will help.

Thanks

Wish I could be more than unhelpful.  I spent three years there (97-00), but I didn't fish at all while there.  I do know that Ogawara and (and also, I believe, the smaller waters north) is quite brackish.  The only fishing I recall going on there was for smelt.  I did have a friend who fished some ponds by innertube and claimed to do pretty well, but I don't recall if he was catching bass.

The waters to the west are mostly at elevation and I don't remember anyone fishing for other than trout.

By the way, fishing aside, Misawa was probably the best place I was stationed in 27 years (and over ten different duty stations.)

Thanks a lot for the information. I've been searching and I haven't found any promising info about bass fishing. I keep hearing that it's a great duty station. I'm looking forward to going.
