Rod transport - Yakima PowderHound & Kayak

Featured Replies

Any of you kayak guys go this route?  My question is whether there will be enough room on the bars with the Yakima Mako saddles that I use.  My yak is Jackson cuda.  I have not purchased the hound yet and have never seen them in person.  I'm looking for an easier option than putting the rods in the Jeep.  This option works fine if I'm by myself but not so much when I have a fishing partner.  What other methods do you guys use?  Thanks for any input you guys can offer.

I think it's a great idea. I'm still cramming 7foot rods into the truck cab. Let us know how it works.

Thanks for posting that USMC22.  I did think about going that option but kind of cringe a little when I think about my reels banging around in there against each other. I could be wrong and if anyone has used this option I'd love some feedback.  My mind just flashes back to what my work truck sounded like when I had one of those tubes loaded with termination bar.

I hear ya, maybe a reel cover and Rod glove would eliminate some of that?

i'm not very familiar with the cuda, but have paddled a coosa before and could put the rods in the hatch into the hull.  is that an option on the cuda?  It's how i transport them with my ride 135 if fishing with a partner, otherwise they go in the cab of the truck.
