Baseball's new slide rule

Zero concern.  Baseball can't get any softer without taking golf carts from base to bases anyways lol

Gee. The game has been played for over a hundred years on a professional level. I've been a fan for over sixty years and I can't recall ever reading that the way the game is supposed to be played included language that prohibited over running or sliding being an automatic out for anyone other than that runner.

Deep dish sports shows try's to make it sound like the rule was always there.  Then why not just enforce the existing ruling?

Its really not so much a "new" rule as it is a reinforcment of the existing rule. You can't slide past 2nd base to take out the thrower. I don't think it's that outrageous.

BUT.....They do need to enforce the second base MUST be touched rule also. The slide step that everyone uses for a double play is bogus. They aren't out if you don't touch the bag.
