for those who repaint cranks

do you look for certain brands to repaint over others?

since I'm pretty much a newb at airbrushing, right now i repaint the cheaper ones, bombers, normans, and a few of my older rapalas. I did 1 spro lil john, then took it to a local tackle shop to show it off. A guy that was shopping there offered me $22 dollars for it. I told him it didnt even have a clear coat on it yet! SOLD! I'm still gonna leave my LCs and other pricey baits alone, until i develop some real skills. I cant wait until they look good enough, i will be postin em up soon hopefully. HAHA i forgot to mention the lil john didnt even have any hooks on it! what a deal

:(

I just repaint cranks that catch fish and need a new finish, or proven brands/models I like but find in odd/unpopular colors for reduced prices in the "bargain bin".  A junk lure + new paint = a junk lure.  New paint will never make a bad lure into a good one.

Any of my favorite brands I fish with. Spros and LCs mainly

i repaint average priced fish catching lures! i'm not picky about brands. if its a good lure but an ugly color i'll repaint it.
