Screw in bullet weights

Featured Replies

Seen some of these today at the local taclke shop.  They looked pretty handy but were three times the cost of regular bullet weights.  They seem like they would protect the wear and tear of the line.  Has anyone used them?  Are they worth the money(2.59 for 5)?

I would say that most of the time when i use a worm weight i use this style. It also has a style that has a rattle inside of the weight. They do cost more and i am not saying they are better than a regular weight pegged with a toothpick but it doesn't nick your line like a pegged sinker would. Also because the rattle is in the weight then anything that it comes in contact with and from the force of hopping the worm makes the thing click. If i use a tube that doesn't have a solid head then i use a regular weight or if i use the cyberflex stuff.

Going out and buying them in like 10 mins.My buddy was using them all summer, and finally convinced me.They help alot in heavy cover.

Gambler Florida rig weights??? Excellent concept. Unfortunately I heard that they are being discontinued very shortly.

I have been pegging my sinkers with tooth picks for a while now. So far my line has never broke because of this. If I was fishing an important tournament I would use the screw in sinkers.

I think they are woth the extra cost. They help move the plastics through heavily weeded area. so i would have to say use them , but sometimes it is hard to put the string through them. ;)

earthy, Gambler stopped making the screw-in weights when they went under.  Now there are several screw in weights by Bullet, Picasso and Tru-Tungsten.

When the new owners took over Gambler they came out with the new Florida rig weight that you thread the line through some goop in the center.  I use these weights quite a bit and they are excellent weights.  The biggest problem is that if you lose the threader, well, you're kinda SOL without it.

Already discontinued.

You can still find in them small, out of the way tackle shops.

Gambler made some with rattles in them.  they are more expensive, but very cool.
