Deeper Fish Finder

Featured Replies

Recently Purchased deeper fishfinder. (works great)

Have just used it for one week.  Water temperature on

favorite pond registered 51 degrees first day then  52

degrees next day then 68 degrees next day and 68 the day after.

This is a Large fairly deep pond temperature just doesn"t go up

that quickly. I want to use temp. to estimate spawning time.

Has any one experienced a similar issue. i have to admit

to being very senior and definitely "tech challenged"

So it could be "Me"

Was this right after you put the boat in the water?  I know my trolling motor temp will show way warmer after it's been on the deck in the sun right after I put it in the water before it reads correctly.

Thanks Captain. I'm fishing from shore and have noticed a higher temp

on initial casts but just on the initial cast...

Put the unit in the water for a bit before using it.  I carry a pond themometer with me when I fish from shore.  I don't look at the temp right away, let it sit there for 10min and then it gives me a better idea especially if it's been in the trunk of the car and it's 80 outside.  Just dropping it in and pulling it out isn't going to give me an accurate temp since it could have been 88 in the trunk.

Fluctuating temperatures cast to cast in the same spot isn't right. But on different days it could be right!

A few weeks ago I fished a lake on a calm day and water temp was 44 degrees. I fished the same spot the next day, it was real windy blowing into that spot and water temp was 58 degrees.

It reads surface temps, which can vary dramatically, from spot to spot, and day to day.  Can even change as the sun rises and warms a calm cove or bay.
